Up early enough to catch a harbour tour out to Rangitoura Island (volcanic origin, last erupted 600 years ago).
Auckland is set up for the tourist - there is so much to see, including this jaws look alike.
One of the highlights of the tour is the chance to see some very expensive yaughts. This one, for example cost a cool 50 million NZ dollars.
Auckland is a cargo terminal. Just as our tour was ending we had a chance to see a very large container ship getting towed in by tugs.
In this shot, one container ship being loaded.
The ticket allowed us a side trip to Devonport for fish and chips and back in time to drive to the airport and return our rental car.
Here are a couple images from our Devonport visit:
Now at the airport and they provide FREE internet access - very good Auckland!
We had perfect weather during the day, and tomorrow we'll take the Tranz Alpine Scenic Rail tour from Christchurch to Greymouth and back.
We love New Zealand!!!!
