Happy Engagement - nice welcome in Kone

For supper - local cultured prawns - served with coconut curried sauce, and local yams - ignane - yam, very large and cooked in the scalloped style, with diced carrots and a very fine French Champagne.

New Caledonia is a French protectorate: and much of the goods are imported from ... France. Here we see French cheeses, available at a fraction of the price you'd pay in Ottawa, Canada

The Franc was valued at 1.14 canadian, a premium, at the time of our trip.

Willis and Family present Cheryl and I with some local pottery as a welcome and engagement gift.
